Beej [ADOPTED OCTOBER 13] is a beautiful sable male. He was given up by his owner because due to the loss of his wife and the necessity to be away from home 17 hours a day, Beej could not longer get the care he deserved.

He was a much loved dog who was well taken care of. He will celebrate his fourth birthday on Sept 24. He probably will do better in a home without cats but he seems to do fine with other dogs. Beej is housetrained and crate trained.

Update from Beej's Foster Mom: Beej is adjusting well in his foster home. He gets along well with the other dogs but does cry when left alone if only for a short time. We are working on his separation anxiety by leaving the house for short periods of time and returning to him so that he will learn that someone will always come home. With lots of patience, he will probably do fine in most situations, but I think he would do best in a forever home where his family would not be gone for long periods of time. He is a gorgeous boy and steals the hearts of all who meet him. He loves his daily walks but grumbles and barks at other dogs he encounters until he gets close to them and then he is as friendly as can be.

Quick Update from Beej's Foster Mom on 9/30: We are so proud of him - after just a few short weeks, he no longer cries when we leave the house. We tell him and his foster siblings to "stay in the house and we'll be home soon" and they wait patiently and quietly for us to return.
