Charlene [ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2] is a 6 year, old buff female who is a very lucky gal to be alive. She came from a shelter in Wisconsin where the doors were closing at the end of that day. Our Karen took off and arrived at the shelter just 2 hours before she and any animal remaining there would have to be put down. Charlene came to our rescue along with LeRoy who was recently adopted and is now living in his forever home. Charlene has had many litters of puppies and is ready for and welcoming a retired life. She is still quite shy but is getting better every day interacting with people. She got along with all the dogs in her foster home and now has been moved to a foster home where she will get more one on one attention. Charlene is a very sweet dog, crate trained and doing well on housetraining.

Update from Charlene's foster mom: Charlene is completely housetrained. She's adjusting well but is still a bit on the shy side. This is very common with dogs who come from Charlene's background and she is making progress on a daily basis. She just needs time, patience and more love to really come out of her shell. A forever home with a fenced in back yard would be the best for her as she really enjoys the freedom of being able to run and explore the world that she was denied for so long. At this time she's not comfortable going potty while on a leash. Charlene does have a prey drive so would be best placed in a home without cats or other small animals. She is fine with other dogs. She is a sweetheart and such a good girl!
