Dixie [Adopted 2/26/2011] is a 5-year-old female who came to us from a southern shelter with a very high kill rate. Her transport to Wisconsin was the result of a tremendous effort by a great number of extraordinary volunteers. There were so many people pulling for this young lady that the transport was dubbed “Driving Miss Dixie”. As you can see Dixie is a bit overweight. We think she might have feasted on too much southern fried chicken. Dixie is crate trained and housetrained. We have no idea of her background but because of the condition of her coat we would say that she had been someone’s pet recently. Right now she is a bit confused by all the life changes she has recently experienced but we know she is very happy to be alive.
