Skipper [Adopted 9/8/2012] is a wonderful, 4 year old red with white markings, male cocker spaniel that came to Shorewood when he found himself “unclaimed” by his original owner. She moved and left him with her roommate, whom took care of him until she lost her job and couldn’t hold him any longer. Skipper has a sweet, loving nature to him, and also has lots of puppy play in him. He was reported to not like bigger dogs, but in a home with cocker spaniels he has been just fine. He gets along great with other dogs, likes older children, and especially has bonded with his foster dad. We think men are something new to Skipper, and after at first being leery, now is a lap pup with his foster dad. Skipper is house and crate trained. He does pull hard on his leash, and could use some obedience training, which would help him bond with his new forever home. He did pretty well for grooming, but definitely did not like the noise of the clippers near his face. Skipper is not into playing with toys unless it involves a person tugging or playing along with him, but he is chewing on shin bones and Nylabones.
