Homer [Adopted 11/10/13] is a buff male who came from Alabama and is a true southern gentleman. This very layback, docile pup had and lost at least two homes before coming to Shorewood Cocker Rescue. He is about 6 years old, but looks older because he has a mild hunched back which his vet thinks is the result of malnutrition in his early years.
They don't come much nicer than this little guy. He has a wonderful disposition, is very gentle, loves everyone (both 2- and 4-legged) and everyone loves him. At our rescue events he makes the perfect greeter, merrily wagging his tail at everyone coming through the door.
No need for a crate - Homer is completely housebroken and has complete run of the house. He's great riding in the car, likes to be groomed (he has a natural Mohawk!) and he especially loves being outdoors and going for walks. He has just recently started to enjoy being a lap dog.
Homer's only flaw - he's itchy. After more than 1 1/2 years of tirelessly searching for the cause and remedy for his itchiness without much success, he was placed on antihistamines 3 times a day and a steroid every other day. As much as we don't like using steroids, it has made a great difference for him and it's obvious he's feeling better, is much happier and has more energy. Although he still does some chewing and scooting, when he's occupied, these behaviors don't happen as frequently, so some might be from habit. He will need to remain on these fairly inexpensive medications.
His foster family loves him and will miss him, but now it's time for this gentle boy to enjoy the loving forever home he so much deserves. Homer is a very special pup.
