Passed over the Rainbow Bridge March 4, 2016
My husband and I had first met Junie at the Shorewood Wiggle Butt Walk- September, 2009. She looked soooo adorable in her crate, much like a small yellow lab pup, wearing an “I’m adoptable” bandana! I immediately fell in love with her after a brief walk and some bonding. Just wasn’t sure if the time was right to adopt another dog though. Kept following her on the website multiple times a day and was then disappointed to see that she had been adopted. L Darn! Life went on though… One day my husband pulled into our driveway. Expecting to see our cocker Jefferson jump out, I was shocked to see little Junie!!! Neil had surprised me by going all the way to Chicago to pick up the little darling. What a precious surprise!
Since both Jefferson and Junie were deaf in later years they helped each follow the daily routines. They sure had a special bond doing almost everything in unison. They had about 6 years together enjoying their treats, walks, belly rubs, tennis balls and being loved a lot. Junie lost her friend Jefferson in November, but still continued on for about another three months after with us.
Junie was a wonderful dog. She wasn’t one to show a lot of affection but was devoted and loyal to her pack. We knew that she loved us and we were so blessed to be able to give her a forever home.
Thank you to all the kind and caring Shorewood volunteers who helped bring her into our lives.
We miss you Junie and loved you very much!

June [ADOPTED OCTOBER 23] is a 5-year-old, silver buff female who came to us from a rural shelter in the south. It was a holiday week-end and shelters do euthanize a number of dog at that time. The volunteers who transported her insisted that she be shaved down because she was so filthy and matted. It will be several months before June looks like a cocker again. She is crate trained and we are evaluating her housetraining. June just had a dental so she feels like a new girl.
