Jefferson [ADOPTED NOVEMBER 8] is a wonderful older gentleman who was estimated to be ten-years-old by his local animal control. Having seen over 1000 Cockers pass through our rescue, I find it difficult to believe that they have aged this dog correctly. He looks and acts far younger than the reported ten years. If I were to guess, he is probably closer to 7 or 8 at the oldest. His adoption fee will be based on the shelter's estimate of ten.
Jefferson is a wonderful, sweet dog who was judged to be unadoptable because of his age. He is a very lucky boy because the shelter director contacted two of our very good friends in an attempt to get him into rescue. Not only did they contact Shorewood, but they offered to foster him until we had space and then transported him to us.
After we met Jefferson, we found that not only was he lucky but so were we. His foster mom immediately fell in love with him. He is housetrained, crate trained, good with other dogs, good with cats and received a perfect score on his shelter temperament test.
Update from Jefferson's Foster Mom: Jefferson has been with me for a week now and has proven to be a wonderful dog. He gets along with the other dogs and cats. He walks well on a leash and enjoys his morning walks. He is very well behaved and goes into his crate with no problem. He was sitting across my lap while I was scratching his head and when I looked down, I realized that he had fallen asleep and was slowly sliding down to the floor. He also loves his tennis ball and will retrieve it for you. Jefferson will make a wonderful addition to any family.
