Charlie [Adopted 10/6/2013] is a handsome chocolate male that came to us from an inner city shelter, as a stray. It was immediately clear that at the age of 1-1/2yrs, he had not received any type of care. He was microchipped but it had not been registered.
He loves to chew and play and is now housetrained and crate trained. We've found that he doesn't need the crate, now. He is a very energetic puppy and gets along with his foster siblings. Charlie is doing well on his basic commands sit, stay, lay down, no, off and comes when called. He is on a feeding schedule and at a great weight of 27 pounds and the new owners have to be willing to maintain this healthy weight.
He can be shy at first and initially timid around men but with kind words and play time, he warms up quickly and falls deeply in love with you.
He likes cats but, out of the 4 farms cats we have 2 love him, 1 is indifferent and 1 goes into hiding during the day. He has also done well with kids that know how to respect a dog.
He had to be shaved down due to the condition of his coat but it is growing back beautifully. Charlie would do best with quieter household that understands what it takes to have a puppy around. He would need a fenced in yard, as well. He is a sweetie and his foster parents will be sad to see him go.
