Delilah, was a caring little girl we adopted around July of 2002. She had such a caring personality. We think, she was a dog discarded from a puppy mill as it was evident that she had several litters of pups. Her mothering personality took immediately with our other cocker, Joey, who was getting up there in age. They would always sleep next to each other and go outside together. When we adopted a puggle pup, who had been taken from his mother too soon, she immediately took over and began to raise him. Soon after Buddy (our Puggle) came to us, we noticed Delilah had a lump on there inner thigh. We took her to the vet and they thought it was just a fatty tumor, nothing to worry about, but when they checked it was some type of ovarian or Breast cancer. They also found that it was not only localized and had spread and she was full of cancer. They say there was not much we could do but make her comfortable. We did so for the next 6-8 months until she started showing signs that she was in pain, up until the she was walking and eating fine, still playing and then the week of her death, we woke up and she could no longer walk or stand. We took her to the vet and they said there was nothing more we could do and we had to put her to sleep. She died peacefully in my arms.
We love you and miss you Delilah!
