Our little Angel left us last night. We adopted Lolly on July 26th 2005 and she went to the Rainbow Bridge on August 26, 2009. She was approximately 14 years old. During the four years we had with her, she brought us more happiness than we thought possible! She was a little older when we adopted her and she didn't like to play much but her sweet ways and companionship filled our home with love.
This year, we celebrated her 4th 'birthday' with her annual birthday party. The picture is of Lolly with her cake.
I believe she died from an injection of Rimadyl. Lolly suffered with severe arthritis and, for about 2 days prior to her death, she was listless and not eating all her food. I took her to the vet and they gave her an injection of Rimadyl. I believe the Rimadyl she had been taking for the last year and a half or so had caused this listlessness. We had never been warned of the side affects of the drug nor were any warning placed on the medication container. When we got home from the visit to the vet, she began to breathe heavily and I called the vet at 6:40 p.m. only to be told doctors hours are over at 6:30 p.m. "Take her to emergency." It was too late and Lolly died.
I have since researched this drug and found out Pfizer is to have warnings on the packaging and side affects listed include death. None of the bottles of the Rimadyl pills we have ever had a warning posted nor did the vet talk with us about it. Of course, without a necropsy, we won't know for certain but I was with her every minute after the injection, saw her reaction and passing away. Lolly was in a completely different state after the shot.
Our hearts are broken and will miss Lolly until we meet again at the Rainbow Bridge.
